QB Derek Anderson looks like the real deal. If you haven't realized it
by now, Derek Anderson is a very viable Fantasy QB. As we first said in this
space six weeks ago, “Anderson reminds us of a young Drew Bledsoe. This
youngster could be the sleeper pick of the year.” Hopefully you got him. If
he’s still available, do it. On top of everything else, the Browns have a very
favorable schedule the last five weeks of the NFL season.
With Travis Henry (ribs) hurting it’s the final call to get RB
Selvin Young. We’ve been talking him up for quite a while now. With Henry’s
legal situation, its time to grab Young if you still can. As we said in this
space in Week #2, “We like his speed and ability once he gets into open space.
Young is another potential hammer waiting to happen.”
RB Kenton Keith is the handcuff for Joseph Addai
(bruised shoulder).
RB Kevin Faulk did little against Miami. Still, if you have some roster
room, give Faulk a look. The team trusts this veteran and with Sammy Morris and
Laurence Maroney (groin) banged up, Faulk could do okay.
If you need help at WR, it never hurts to target a player
with a huge upside. The Bengals WR Chris Henry is just that guy. Stash
him now and in 3 or 4 weeks you might be very happy with your investment.
WR Greg Jennings has played well in three of his four
games this year. When healthy, he’s a serviceable #3 WR.
If you play in a deep league and are desperate for help at
WR, Jacksonville’s Dennis Northcutt is worthy of some consideration. As
we said two weeks ago, “Northcutt is establishing himself, however, as the No.
1 receiver on this run-oriented club. As such, he remains a low-end No. 3
receiver.”
In his last four games, TE Heath Miller is averaging
over 4.0 receptions, 45-yards and 0.87 TDs per game. Miller should continue to
get his share in the Steelers more aggressive passing offense.
TE Donald Lee is worth looking at. With Bubba Franks
hurting, Lee’s value will only increase. In quite fashion, over his last three
weeks, Lee is averaging 54.7 yards per game.
If Matt Schaub is out next week, give QB Sage Rosenfeld a look. In
limited time Sunday, Sage was 22-for-35 for 290 yards with 4 TDs.
Jeff Garcia remains in control of the Bucs offense and was excellent
Sunday as he completed 37-of-45 passes for 316 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Despite his left arm brace, Kurt Warner was 27-for-41 for 282 yards and
2 TDs Sunday against an excellent Redskins passing defense.
Brian Griese remains hot as a Fantasy QB. On the road he was good for
322 yards and a game winning TD Sunday against Philly.
While Rudi Johnson nurses his hamstring, Kenny Watson continues to
impress. Watson ran like a workhorse Sunday and was good for 130 yards rushing,
27 receiving yards and 3 TDs. Watson isn’t going away.
If Ronnie Brown (knee) is out pick up Jesse Chatman. In very limited
time Sunday against the Pats, Chatman made some amazing moves and cuts as he
scored a TD and had 82 offensive yards. The Miami
Herald reports: RB Ronnie Brown will miss the rest of the
season as a result of Sunday's knee injury, two sources said Monday. An MRI
revealed enough damage Monday morning to declare Brown's season as done. Details
of the severity of the injury will be known shortly.
At some point the Falcons will need to give Jerious Norwood more work.
He continues to get the job done, despite getting limited carries so far this
year.
Just in case Wes Welker is still available in your league, get him now.
Over the last two weeks, Welker has 4 TDs, 20 receptions for 262 yards.
If you need help at WR, give Roddy White a look. This week he scored a
TD and was 8-110 receiving.
Also keep Ike Hilliard on the radar screen. With Joey Galloway getting
the double team, Hilliard continues to get the job done. Sunday he scored a TD
and was 9-92 receiving.
Two rookie TEs are worth looking at moving forward. The one you really want to
look at is the Bears Greg Olsen. With Desmond Clark doing most of the
blocking, the Bears are using Olsen in the slot, basically as a wide receiver.
If you want to take a flyer on a TE, also look at the Raiders Zach Miller.
Oakland continues to move him along.
Finally, don’t give up on the Bills Lee Evans. As rookie QB Trent
Edwards continues to improve, so will Evans. Recall, Evans is a true game
breaker when given a chance.
